'The Artist' Keeps Winning Streak Going, 'Tintin' Claims Best Animated Film at Producers Guild Awards

Posted by Derrick Deane on January 23, 2012

That awards juggernaut otherwise known as The Artist continues to blaze a path toward the Oscars. While we won't know just how many nominations it will notch until tomorrow morning when the Oscar nominations are revealed, the silent black-and-white movie picked up another best picture win over the weekend.

The Producers Guild of America gave its top prize to the Michael Hazanavicius film Saturday night. The win marked its sixth best picture win with nominations in the Independent Spirit Awards and BAFTA Awards yet to be determined. To date, the film and its cast and crew have won 42 awards and earned 77 nominations.
One man who's no stranger to winning awards added another trophy to his mantle (or wherever he keeps them). Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin won for best animated feature, making it the front-runner in the animated film field following its Golden Globe win a week ago.
Best documentary went to Beat, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest, which beat out Project Nim, Senna, The Union and Bill Cunningham New York for the award.
Following the Oscar nominations tomorrow morning, the Directors Guild and Screen Actors Guild will announce their winners this coming weekend and don't forget, you can get all the latest awards news, photos and buzz by jumping over to our Awards Watch section.
